So im new to HA and Vera ( i have a vera plus) since last weekend and setup a simple scene that turns a lights on between 1am and 7am if it detects motion and turns off after 90 seconds. It was easy to setup and was running fine, since then i dipped my toe into PLEG and followed a PLEG basics motion sensor setup, after a few errors it seems to be working. While im testing i have been setting PLEG to bypass so as not to have the light switching on and off all day with the family at home.
I have noticed that for the last two mornings my simple vera scene is not working and the light does not come on. Deleting the scene and re-doing it from scratch, or running it manually fixes the issue.
Has anyone else had a scene that stops running like this? the reason for mentioning PLEG is that i wasnt sure if there could be a conflict between the two scenes (the one in PLEG and the vera one) as they are working on the same light.
It’s impossible to say, based on this post. As well as being confusing, you’ve provided no specifics about exactly how the scene is configured. Your description suggests that you are trying to accomplish an AND condition in the scene, where a scheduled time AND motion are intended to be combined before action. Stock Vera scenes cannot evaluate AND conditions, they can only do OR conditions. You also didn;t provide any details or a Status report of the PLEG, so we have no idea what that is doing.
I would suggest that you first look at the Vera log and make certain that your issue is the scene not running. It’s common with small sparse Z-Wave networks for devices to not always receive a signal. In such a scenario, the scene might run fine, but the light simply doesn’t receive the signal to turn On or Off.
Scenes failing to run inexplicably is not normal. If not a communication problem, I would wager that the issue is bad scene logic or, as you said, a conflict with the PLEG that is acting on the same light.
After verifying in the log that the scene is definitely not running, I’d pick the scene or PLEG and work on that, making sure that it works as expected before adding additional complexity.
