Vera Plus-add devices on unit (hw) vs in dashboard (sw)

Upgraded from vera 2 to vera plus. On the old unit you could walk around with a battery pack and include devices. How do I do that on the new Plus?! I cannot find any instructions and I have some outdoor lights whose switches are across the house and not pairing-probably due to distance.

You may be able to include in situ, try it first.
