Can anyone tell me how to improve vera alerts when on LAN. Sometimes it works most of the times it doesn’t. When it does work I am assuming its because vera alerts is pulling through the cellular data.
Once i click off wifi… I get dozens of alerts. Please advise.
Do you have internet or data connection while on WIFI? Have you run a DEBUG from the VA app settings? Do you have your LAN port set to “0” in your VA advanced settings?
I too have a similar set up. I have a VA sent to my cell phone and a tablet I have on the LAN, which I use as a “centralized smart device” for my entire house. Sometimes the TTS alerts get sent, and sometimes they don’t. I set the port # on my device to match the port number specified in the app on the server side. I use WiFi keep alive, and whenever I reset my WiFi connection from the device itself, It’ll work for a few hours, then stop working. It’s driving me slowly insane. Any ideas?
I think I have LAN alerts finally working reliably on a tablet (LG G Pad 7.0) and an old phone (HTC Evo). Both are plugged in 24/7 and are mounted in the house (Wifi only, no cellular). Wifi Keep Alive seems to do the trick with the tablet. For the phone, I installed the Ping Sensor Plugin (UI5) and have it pinging the phone every two minutes.
Before setting up the ping sensor, the phone would only work with Google Cloud Messaging - but would frequently speak the alerts several minutes late. It drove me crazy. But with LAN alerts, they would simply stop working unless I toggled Wifi off and then on. I tried every setting on Wifi Keepalive but it didn’t help (i.e., didn’t fix delays from GCM and didn’t maintain LAN alerts). It’s probably been 3 weeks since I set up the ping sensor and I don’t think the phone has missed an alert yet.
