I’ve got Vera2 installed at a vacation home where it has been working for about 2 months. Yesterday it became unresponsive, meaning that when I select ‘Dashboard,’ at the my.mios.com website it will not load my configuration. It says “Server Busy” in the upper/right corner and a window offer the option of “setup network, update firmware, request support).” When I select any of those options, it goes to a blank page.
If I connect to a computer at the vacation home, I can ‘ping’ my Vera2 box, but I cannot browse there with IE.
Any suggestions about how I can gain access remotely? I can tell by an installed web cam that Vera is NOT controlling my lights according to a schedule any longer and I’ll bet I don’t get notifications from my motion detectors if they ‘see’ any movement.
This is really disappointing since I installed Vera specifically to keep tabs on that house when I’m not there.
Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I’ll try to find a way to open a ticket, but I can’t do it through the my.mios.com website.
If you cannot access the device webpage remotely through a local-to-vera computer or cp.mios.com then you dont have many options left.
Someone else may be able to chime in and comment on whether you could reboot from an SSH connection or not. (if it is even enabled)
You may want to put vera on a timer that will power cycle her once a day, I know other users have done that for similar situations. Obviously not the best solution though…
ssh to your Vera, login as root, type reboot and hit Return … - but be patient: response times may be very sloooow (up to several minutes if Vera is in an unhealthy state).
If your Vera is behind a router/firewall, you have to forward tcp port 22 to your Vera.
Thanks, Ap15e!.. apparently it wasn’t completely ‘dead’ since I was able to ssh and issue the reboot command… a few minutes later, the HTML interface responded.
I hope that MCV gives some consideration to building in a recovery method so that the system can detect this type of problem and issue a reboot internally. With all the $$$ I’ve spent on Z-wave (and on X-10 before that), I don’t know if I can bear to buy a ‘dumb’ timer to reboot nightly. Once I know the cost and reliability of the ‘dumb’ timers, I might question the prudence of the whole HA investment. :
