Vera Log Files: How to access?

Newbie, attempting to explore the VERA-2.

How can I browse the directory structure in the Vera? I want to understand the structure, inspect log files and generally satisfy my curiosity. I’ve configured Vera to write log files to USB thumb drive. I assume this is where I need to look for log files, correct? If so, what is the path? /tmp/log/cmh?

I’ve browsed about with Putty. Does Vera support FTP server? If not, what options are available to make open the directories to my Win7 desktop?

Finally…
I’m a newbie to Vera/zWave but otherwise fairly experienced inthe WinTel environment with a bit of coding experience. I ASSUME inspecting files is low risk and modifying or deleting could brick the system.

Is this correct?

Is there any specific warnings to “stay-away” from certain internals of Vera?
Thanks much.

You can use winscp to browse the files on vera. To view logs via the web browser you can use this url: http://veraip/cgi-bin/cmh/log.sh?Device=LuaUPnP.

I would be careful when poking around.

Thanks MUCH for the quick reply.

I installed the WinSCP. Logged in as root with password on bottom of vera. Says access is denied.
Any suggestions?

2nd unrelated question:
I see zWave inventory at bottom of many postings. I can’t see how to add my own. Is there a profile property whereby I can add my inventory?

Oh, since you are so generous with your time…
What defines a “newbie” on this forum?
How do you graduate out of that status?

Thanks!

Phil

In winscp, set file protocol to Scott and make site port number is set to 22.

Will this only work if I am local to the network with the Vera connected?
Is there a way to view logs remotely?

You could forward port 22 to Vera's IP.
