Vera Lite

New to do this.

If I have a Harmony hub would I also need a Vera Lite? I just want one hub that controls everything. Locks, lights, etc.

Do you have Z-Wave devices that you wish to control? If so, then you will also need a Z-Wave controller like the Logitech 915-000253 Harmony Hub Extender or a Vera Edge.

If you only want to turn on a few lights from your remote then Harmony Hub Extender would be all that you need.

VERA is about logic and automation. It’s much more then just turning on and off a light from your harmony remote. I have VERA and a Harmony HUB without a Harmony Extender. Some people have a HUB a VERA and a Extender. Everyone’s needs vary on what they are trying to accomplish.

The first thing I would ask you to find out is what your needs/wants are then we can help you get there with the least amount of devices. Harmony HUB and Extender doesn’t know if your home or away, work with motions, or have any logic to turn on light when doors open, turn off things at certian times or activate a devcie based on a motion sensor. VERA is much smarter and less of a remote control then just using HARMONY alone.

So I use VERA to handle everything and use Harmony remote/hub to control my TV and a few lights for that room where the TV and remote is located. I can also have vera turn off the TV when I leave home automatically.
