VERA LITE - Unable to SSH

I need to view Vera’ s log on my primary unit.

I can ssh remote@192.168.x.x on my 2nd unit, but NOT my primary unit. I rebooted the router, this is a static IP, no conflicts.

I get a connection refused message. Any ideas ?

Thanks

The user is root not remote.

If you enabled the “Secure my Vera” option, Vera turns on a firewall that blocks all local access. In this case Vera can only be accessed through the Micasaverde servers which then have a tunnel to your Vera.

Zwaver- I do not know my root password, and was of the impression remote is a valid login if I enable tech support in the interface, using the temporary password. I did read that remote is valid in that situation, also, remote works for my 2nd vera unit. My understanding was once I get in with remote, I can then learn the root password… .

Is that right? What am I missing?

PS - Secure my vera is not enabled, I log in locally at all times to work on PLEG, etc
Thanks!

If you are doing it with your other Vera, of the same firmware version, then I would expect it to work. But, I’ve never logged in that way and trying it just now; login fails with “permission denied”.

The message “connection refused” is usually returned by systems that have a port firewalled or the service does not exist on that port. But, this will vary depending on the client operating system and application.

The root password can be found by downloading a copy of a backup locally. Open the compressed backup archive and locate the file [backup] /etc/cmh/cmh.conf you’ll find the root password there with with the keyword Password=
