Vera Lite UI5 upgrade to UI7?

Does anyone recommend me upgrading to the UI7 interface with latest update? Is it still to buggy? I am asking cause I seen videos on UI7 and like the different modes like vacation, night, etc…

No… especially on a Vera Lite

Why not?

There are a lot of reasons, but instability and incompatibility of UI7 are the biggest causes.

Vera Lite is specifically called out since it’s notoriously low on memory if you want to do anything more complex than just the basics.

That said, after putting it off forever, I’ve just completed the upgrade successfully and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that it all worked out. However, I did prepare in advance by moving all my home automation logic and rules to openhab, so my vera lite only has minimal responsibilities now.

I believe one of the reasons it worked successfully is because I do not have any plugins running anymore, so YMMV. If you attempt the upgrade, it’s a good idea to prepare by having backups and knowing how to downgrade in advance.

The lite is low on memory and runs into issues with plugins on both ui5 and ui7.

I upgraded both houses that had lites to EDGES just for the extra RAM. I have played with ui5 and ui7 on the lites. The problems with the lite is the same no matter witch ui you use.

ui5 is old, outdated, not supported and doesn’t work with some new devices. (z-combo smokes was some of the first devices I couldn’t use until I went ui7, and that helped push me into ui7)

Don’t if you have a reason to update ui’s go for it. if you happy and everything is working on ui5 stay there.
