Vera lite bricked or in a loop....

Hi,
Newbie here and having problems with my Vera Lite (latest firmware).

It worked well for one week; added some scenes to control the lights. All great and good.
But last Friday my energy company had some planned work to do and therefore the power was shutdown for around 10minutes. Before the work started I removed the Vera power adapter and when power returned I plugged the Vera power adapter back in.

Since then I have the following symptons:

  • orange light at front keep blinking at a low pace;
  • blue and yellow lights are solid;
  • connection through cp.mios.com results in “no connection to the internet” (100% sure it has a connection to the internet otherwise the yellow light would blink at a fast pace right? )
  • local connection works but I only get errors when doing something (configure something for example).

Tried to do a default factory reset and I followed the guidance in the mios docs. But when I try to reset zwave (under ), as stated in the guideline, I get “Delivery Failure”. When pressing anything else I get “error” with no additional message. Almost anything else I try I get either “error” or “Delivery Failure”. Deleting devices isn’t possible, as the x sign isn’t there.

The unit seems busy all the time, getting the message “unit busy” in the upper middle screen. It seems like it is in some sort of loop. It stays in this state for 2days.

Unpowering and putting power back on, has no result. Same symptons.

I added a USB flash drive (1Gb) to retrieve logs but that doesn’t seem to work either.

The scenes don’t work anymore, lights don’t turn on automated. They worked before the power outage.

My questions:

  1. What does the orange light mean when it is blinking at a slow pace?
  2. How do I return the Vera Lite into a state where I can configure the vera again?
  3. How do I return the Vera Lite into a state where I can access the vera agian from cp.mios.com?
  4. How do I get some logs out, to understand the problem better?

I really hope that somebody can help me because this situation is really frustrating.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

The fastest fix is to restore the firmware. Open the firmware upgrade page:
[tt]http:///cgi-bin/cmh/upgrade_step1.sh[/tt]
and upgrade your firmware using the URL below. Make sure to select Restore to factory defaults when upgrading.

http://download.mios.com/rt3662_betafirmware/rt3662_Luup_ui5-1.5.346-en-mios.squashfs

After the upgrade is over you can either recreate the scenes, or just restore a backup.

Thanks!
Turned out it was a “bad” app. I installed an app which caused the vera to search for a specific device (which wasn’t connected yet). But this search toke so much cpu cycles, that the unit was busy all the time. After I was able to wait for the right moment to delete the app, the vera recovered. No more “delivery failed” or “Error” messages and it responded in a reasonable amount of time.
Happy again!

What app was that?

The app I installed was: CurrentCost EnviR is a wireless energy monitor. It kept searching for its devices which then toke all the cpu power of the vera. The vera became unresponsive because of it.

Vera1234,

As the developer of that app, I’m keen to work with you to identify what the problem you encountered was, so that others don’t run into it. Let’s continue the discussion over on the plugins topic.

I posted the messages I received in the plugins topic.
