Vera Light Automatic Polling Question - confused

Hi everyone,
Hopefully someone can shine some light into this.
I have one CT30 thermostat and two Kwikset Z-wave doorlocks.

I currentyly use Luup Code (and the Scheduler) to poll the devices.
I diabled the automatic polling option in Vera.
While this type of polling works absolutely great I wonder while Vera is not able to poll my devices automatically.

When I turn on the auto polling otion (and disable the Luup polling code), polling works fine for a couple of hours but then suddenly stops without any warnings. It feels like Vera simply “forgets” to poll my devices? There is absolutely no activity in the logs anymore after a while as well.

Does anyone experience the same issue?
As I said before, my system works fine (on the latest firmware) with the semi automatic polling via Luup - however I am just wondering if I really have to write a polling code via Luup for each and every device when Vera should handle this… ::slight_smile:

Anyways, thanks in advance for your answers and keep up the good work.

Could this be related to how Vera is handling battery powered devices? Does your luup polling kill the batteries faster? Is your CT-30 battery powered ?

Hi aschwalb,

The CT30 is not battery powered. Sorry forgot to mention that.
I am polling the Locks once every 60 minutes - I have not observed any significant battery loss after 2 months - both @90%.
