Vera getting sluggish after running for awhile...

I hate to post another problem thread but here it goes… I am still running 899 as it seems better than 918 for me (commands kept getting delayed in 918).

My vera keeps getting slow to respond at night, even just logging in. It will sit at the “loading data” page for 5-10 minutes… slowly getting each piece of the loading process done. Finally once it finishes it gives me the dashboard… but it is SLOOOOOOW. So I painfully make my way to the “Tech Support” menu, press Reboot Router, and about 3min later we are back to normal humming right along again.

I am curious if this is at all related to my zwave commands being delayed in 918 that I was having problems with…

Is anyone else experiencing these slowdowns?

I’ve had that happen in many different firmwares where it just hangs. Most of the time I would just unplug it for about 30 seconds. I would need a note book to log all the problems I’ve had but at this point it seems pointless to do so because they are going through firmware versions at a high rate. I’m still waiting for the one that “just works.” It can’t be that far off I would hope. I agree with what many have said in that it should work flawlessly for zwave before moving on to other things. Just make one solid firmware then move on from there with the extras. That way if you want it to “just work” you can do so. If you want to play around with beta stuff then do that too if you can spare a few weeks of time.

That said I have to say that since I’ve received the new dongles for my Vera’s it’s been much better then it ever has been and I was able to take off the daily auto rebooting code I had programmed into it. It still has issues though.

I’ve had that too with firmware 6xx.

Because of my shutter problem I’m still on 616 and I must say that it is stable, reliable and has a good performance for nearly two weeks now.

The only difference I can see comparing the weeks and months before where Vera was never reliable, is that I didn’t change anything in the Z-Wave network or in Vera except two changes of a timer. I constantly was building up my network. Every week I added one or two devices. Now, since two weeks the network build up is finished. I will add some sensors in the future but for the time being I finished it.

So I have a bit the feeling that adding, excluding or changing nodes causes more problems than I can see on the surface…

I had a similar issue a while back and MCV thought there might be a memory leak somewhere causing the problem. At the time it was thought to be related to plugins I loaded, but I never got a firm response about the problem.

Since I have loaded .900 and have not made any significant changes to my network, everything has been stable and operated as expected for over 2 weeks now.
