Hi, I’ve been looking for a while in this forum without any result. Here is the thing
In my shead that I need to protect from freezing. I know that vera shows the temperature at the top right corner. I woul like to know if there is a luup code that could light up a light an ring my siren when the exterior temperature goes below the freezing point.
I would not trust that temp reading as who knows where is it getting it’s data.
I would get a cheap thermostat in the barn and get direct readings from the barn and automate off of that temp reading.
You cannot get the temp from Vera directly. But you can get an accurate weather reading from the Weather Underground plug in if there is a weather station close enough to you, so that you can trigger scenes on your Vera (like sounding your alarm) based on the Weather, probably more accurately then the weather deplay on the Vera dashboard.
I have my own Weather Station … Davis - Vantage Pro 2.
I receive data from the Weather station via the Weather Underground.
If my station goes down for any reason … the Weather Underground plugin provides information from a nearby weather station.
Nevermind! I found the answer! I’ve installed UWeather app, then register on the uweather site has a developper to get an API key. Then I get all the devices working with all other users sharing weather data nearby me.

Where is Uweather getting it’s data? Is it close to you? One other thing to think about.
If the internet is down in your area, and it drops below freezing, is it imperative that your anti freezing actions work?
