@Toy4Rick: Have you tried, or do you already have the iPhone Locator plugin? I’m finding that works pretty much flawlessly with multiple phones / users… and it doesn’t need yet another app using location services in the background and chipping away at the battery.
The Plugin has 3 devices added for each phone (me, the wife, and the kid), with ‘home’ set to 0.07 miles. Then with the “participates in house mode” option checked, it sets the mode to away when all 3 devices are outside the ‘fence’ and switches to home when one or more devices come within it… I find that radius setting, a 600sec polling interval and the dynamic polling option (polls iCloud more freqently when a device is moving towards home), gives vera just enough time to figure out someone’s home, and switch the lights / appliances on (via PLEG), without noticably affecting battery life.
Are there any Geo Fence success stories? I’ve set up a geofence with the iphone app, I get the alert when I’m entering or exiting the geofence area but the Vera doesn’t tigger the desired function, which is currently just to lock/unlock the door. When do a dry run from the scenes Menu in the App it does what its supposes to, but when in an actual enter/exit situation the trigger function doesn’t work.
Any suggestions or previous trouble shooting that resulted in success?
I have the Vera app trigger scenes on enter/exit that toggle a multi switch button. That way I created a multi user (phone) working option. When any is home or all are gone I change the home/away status and that triggers some other scenes.
I’m running the latest app beta on an LG V10 and after I set that one to use both GPS and WiFi to determine location, the geo location has been spot on. It was unreliable when the phone was set to use GPS only.
I have the Housemodes plugin installed which allows me to fire of a scene when the house mode changes. That scene set up the house for Home or Away mode by adjusting the temperature, switching on/off the HTS, lights etc.
The latest Vera firmware in combination with latest beta app are supposed to have support for multi-user GeoFencing. I have not tested that as I have no need for it unless I give my dogs cellphones.
I just tested it with two mobile devices and it worked.
When I took the devices out of the fence separately, the devices registered the leaving but did not put the controller in away mode but when I took both devices out of the fence together, the controller did indeed go into away mode.
I hope to get a video up this weekend of it working and how to set it up.
Confirming multi user geo fence is working on my set up. Very nice.
I did have one brief WTF moment when I left my laptop on with the windows app running. It took me awhile to realize the app on the computer was considered a “mobile device” and inside the geo-fence. Turning off the geo-fence for the computer fixed the issue.

I have set this up with two android phones using the new vera app. Both phones work using multiple fences, located in two different states (500 miles apart) I am waiting for it to break…so far so good.
I also set up a fence around the airport. When the wife lands and turns on her phone I get a “geo fence entered and then exit” when she is leaving for home. Gives me time to clean up the beer cans.

Yes. I unchecked the option to notify when geo fence is breached and instead set up a scene to trigger or notify based on entry or exit. You can differentiate between the two (entry and exit). Lots of cool options.

I have geofancing option but how can i control gate’s action?
Well! for me geofence still doesn’t work that well. I’m on windows phone and my wife on IOS. I’ve run some test only with my WP and it work only when i enter the Home area, the Vera Edge come back to Home, but when i Exit the geofence, nothing Happen. When i configure the IPhone of my phone to have two users nothing work at all even if we have both of us notification of entering and exiting the geofence. I know that the app for IPhone haven’t been update yet still the release of the last firmware, but if somebody could give feedback, it would be helpful.

I created a scene via the mobile app. I select as the trigger “location.” Then move through the process of setting up a scene.
Has anyone had issues with creating their geofencing scenes from the mobile app?
I created a geofence around my house and seems to be set properly as it notifies me when I exit or enter.
I then whent to create a new scene and everything seems ok until I try to Finish the creation - I then get an error message "unfortunately vera has stopped working " and the app now indicates that there is not internet connection until I restart the mobile app.
Am I doing something wrong perhaps?
