I was wondering if it was possible for Vera to enable scenes upon receiving an ir command? If so what hardware is required?
I have a logitech harmony 890 and right now it controls its own little zwave network and I’d like to integrate this network into my Vera controlled network. I’m assuming based on the harmony’s limited wave functionality that ir it Vera is the only way this is possible.
Yeah most posts are about how the Z-Wave on the 890 is half baked at best. They would be right too. However, most of the conversations deal with using vera to control IR devices.
I want an IR remote, in this case the Harmony 890 with half backed z-wave, to control vera via IR. For example, when I hit the “Watch Movies” activity on my harmony, in addition to my receiver and tv all being set correctly, I’d like an additional IR command to cause vera to activate a z-wave scene.

Though not entirely the same solution the other workaround that I was able to do is to use a Leviton Wall switch 4 button scene controller whch has an IR input. Their remote control for this scene controller sends the IR command for any of the 4 buttons specifically, which can be learned to a universal remote.
Then just program any of the 4 buttons with a scene created in vera (example watch tv, watch movie, lights on or off etc) and then point the universal remote to the controller, it’s also possible to put the controller somewhere else and attach an IR blaster to that if the confirguration permits.
