Vera Continually Restarts

In the last 6 hours, my Vera has restarted (not rebooted) 19 times. This has been happening for a number of months now and I’ve had a ticket with support opened for as long. Support says they kicked it up the chain, however, I haven’t received a response in 3 weeks now. I’ve uninstalled some of my apps but not all.

I’m currently running (on a Vera 3):
-Philipes Hue 1.3
-Day or Night 1.1
-PLC/PLEG - 7.11
-Vera Alerts 6.11
-Global Cache GC100 1.0
-ImperiHome 1.0
-Evolve LCD1 Scene Controller 0.8
-Virtual On/Off 1.34
-Garage Door 2.0
-Blue Iris 0.5
-WebPowerSwitch1.4
-XBMCState 1.1
-MLightRGB 1.0

I see some errors in my log:

not sure why DataMine is showing as I uninstalled it a while ago.

Anybody have any ideas on troubleshooting this?

Hmm, not sure what steps to take from here. Vera support is completely unresponsive.

I turned off autodetect devices on my network though that seemed to not help at all (over 10 restarts today already)

I’ve read where it may advantageous to do a restore to factory settings, however, it appears that I can’t backup my z-wave settings and my configuration at the same time (backup z-wave network says backing up x of nand when it finishes, there is no file for me to download) so I’m reluctant to reset my vera unit

I have a vera 3 with 16 plugins. System Monitor says 74204kb is available

Reboots are caused by oversubscribing system (CPU or Memory) or due to code with too many plugins (i have more than you without issues), PLEG conditions that loop, too many Luup.Sleep calls, or too many external calls to other plugins (like turning on 100 Philips Hue lights). 99% it’s not a hardware problem and caused by the former reasons.

They can also be caused by flooding of your Z-wave network making the Z-wave dongle become unresponsive…however this should be easy to find sifting through the logs which I’m sure you’ve already done for few hours.

The only easy solution is to reset and start over. Otherwise, your going to need to learn enough to debug your logs (including PLEG logs) to find the issue.

The 3rd error references device 337. Do you really have that many devices or have you been swapping devices out? ? If you check your heal report it should tell you what that device is and possibly give you an indication as to the error.

My Vera 3 runs between 25% and 34% CPU and has between 85000 and 98000 free memory. knocking on wood It’s been stable as a rock. But I don’t nearly run as many devices or plugins as you do. I have 29 active zwave devices

Plugins
Ergy
Foscam (soon to be removed when I migrate fully to the Blue Iris one)
DLNA
UPnP event proxy
Email notification
MultiSwitch
system Monitor
Blue Iris
MyQ garage door
Yamaha LUUP & Yamaha HTTP (evaluating which one works best for me)

In the last 6 hours, Vera restarted 20 times.I can post the log from the last restart. What would tell me that I have a z-wave device flooding the network? The first line of support from Vera had looked at my logs a couple of months ago and didn’t mention any floods but perhaps I’m expecting too much from them

If I go the route of returning to factory settings, when I use backup z-wave network, it doesn’t produce a file

Here is a list of my devices. Many of them I had deleted (sq remote, squeezebox):

My heals never finish, perhaps due to the restart?
Device 337 is my Aeotec SmartSwitch. I did a configure node and a stress test
