Anyone know if I can use both a Nexia bridge as well as a Vera 2? I have a thermostat (Trane XL950) that can only talk to the Nexia bridge. I was hoping to connect it through the bridge to my Vera.
I would think that even if you can have Vera and the Nexia in a primary/secondary controller relationship, they’d each talk to the thermostat independently; so you wouldn’t gain anything.
According to Schlage/Nexia their locks, etc. are z-wave compliant. Does that mean I can use JUST the MiCasaVerde, or do I need their bridge as well?
Nexia is a z-wave controller. You should be able to remove the Trane TSAT from the Nexia controller and add it to the Vera controller. I did this last Thursday and cancelled my Nexia subscription.
Won’t work. The XL950 does not have a zwave chip, it’s wifi only. I have one. Can’t hook it up to Vera yet. Right now, it will only work with the schlage controller.
Abscam, did you have the XL950? I have an older Trane z-wave tstat that works fine as it was z-wave. The XL950 is IP and not zwave. Only the Nexia can control it at this point. This is why I want to have the Nexia run the XL950 and have the Nexia gateway then transmit information to my Vera. I just don’t know if the XL 950 will get bridged or be totataly seperate.
My utimate goal is to then cancel the Nexia contract and have my Vera bridge the Nexia gateway to my existing z-wave network.
