Vera Alerts - Major Enhancements to Support IOS and Android Clients

This is the first step in directly supporting the Apple IOS community. At this time it is by using the Pushover APP on IOS devices.

In addition to Pushover (Which opens up the IOS community) this release also supports Twilio. Twilio is a service that can call a phone and speak the message, or send an SMS message. The option for the user to open this up to a full voice/message response system exists.

Vera Alerts now has two locations in the Forums. This board deals with the Vera Alerts plugin. The previous board should be used for the Vera Alerts Mobile app. I still hope to release a native IOS version of this later this year. With this release of the Plugin it will be a trivial upgrade to transition from the Pushover to Vera Alert Mobile app at that time.

For those that have Auto-Update turned on. This release will cause your existing notifications to stop. You only have to open up the Vera Alerts editor and Select Notifications Configuration to restore your service. But look around you will notice significant changes.

NOTE: This release is in MCV Audit. I do not know when it will hit the streets.
It’s Version Number is 4.0

Hi Richard,
Would it be possible for you to somehow push out a notification about updates like this using Vera Alerts before they happen so that one would know about it without reading the forums?

Just an idea

-Tomas

Richard, thanks for this update.

FYI, somehow, it seems to have updated automatically on my Vera 3, a feat unknown to any plugin in the past. I have been fiddling with other aspects of the Vera, and do not know if that somehow caused it.

There is a lot’s of Learn as you go aspects for both the Developer and the User to get Auto update working.

Apparently we are in Sync! I still do not know how to disable it for one release.

Richard,
I opened both the Profiles and the Notification Configuration tabs and the not initiated message went away from the top of the page but the notifications didn’t resume.
I then went to reopen those tabs and all I get endlessly is a message on the VA editor pages saying Opening va_Profiles or Opening va_Settings depending upon the tab I choose but when I choose the Notifications Configuration tab, I get a total of about 20 error messages opening as I close the previous message referring to Device #, Scene Obj # Trigger Index0 until a blank notifications page opens?
I started to read the posts and attempted to have Vera Alerts add another device but that did the same so when removing that device it uninstalled everything and upon reinstallation I still have the same problem.
I don’t know what to do.
HELP???

Hi kaycee0651,

I had a similar problem here is the proposed fix from Richard:

“Go to the Advanced Tab!
Delete the content of the Profiles and MsgOverride parameter …
Save … Browser Refresh (Control F5) Then Open the Vera Alerts Device Again.
It would be nice to know what sequence caused the NIL in the profiles. Another has
mentioned this. But did not know the sequence of events that led to it.”

For me it was enough to delete content for the “Profiles” parameter.

I had the same problem. I removed the plugin and reinstalled in. Now i had to reconfigure the notifications again. But is working. Although i still have a problem now, which i didn’t have a before.

When trying to looko at the picture i include in some messages i get the messages:

Download error: Handler failed
Problems contacting Vera

BTW i didnt change a thing on my phone.

Version 4.1 has been released … It now fixes a bug in the PushOver profile and it adds support for Prowl.

@rpleever
I tried pictures … they are working for me.
Can you monitor the Vera Log during the time of sending/opening a picture to Vera Alerts Mobil and send me anything that looks out of the ordinary.

Woke up to Vera Alerts error. Looking at the settings, it’s all new. Obviously there was an update to a significantly changed version last night. But, the Vera Alerts ID was missing form the settings. Checking the forums I see that going to the Notification Configuration tab and then Save is suppose to right any wrongs.

Instead I now get VeraAlerts[98] : Startup Lua Failed

Added a Vera-Alerts-Mobil profile and reentered the Vera Alerts ID, saved… VeraAlerts[98] : Startup Lua Failed

01 12/07/13 9:30:40.645 LuaInterface::CallFunction_Startup-1 device 98 function Initialize failed [string "module("L_VeraAlert", package.seeall)..."]:672: attempt to concatenate field 'VeraAlertsID' (a nil value) <0x2b6e5680> 01 12/07/13 9:30:40.645 LuImplementation::StartLua running startup code for 98 I_VeraAlert.xml failed <0x2b6e5680>

Delete the content of Profiles property on the advanced tab, and restart Vera again. Refresh your browser. You may also want to set InteralAlerts to 0 for now. And try again.

You should have had a Profile with your Vera Alerts ID in it.
Or do you do all of your notifications from LUA code ?

Deleting the content of the Vera Alerts → Advanced → Profile field then Saving got rid of the error. But with no Vera Alerts → Profile (I undid my previous repair attempts) alerts were still not being sent.

I recreated a Vera-ALerts-Mobil profile with the Android VeraAlertsID, reloaded, and I’m working again.

Thanks, Richard.

Some of my scenes, like my Welcome Home scene I added in the LUA code for it to sent an alert to me email and to Vera mobile, after the update this doesn’t seem to work any more on some of these scenes.

Thanks

Go to the settings page … of Vera Alerts
Click on each of the users (left side) and see what profiles are assigned to each. (Right Side)
