Hello,

I added more error message because folks were reporting LAN mode alert losses …
This means that the Android phone is reporting an error in trying to read LAN mode messages.
What was happening on your phone at the time ?
Nothing that I know of. It happened a couple of times when I got up this morning - maybe the phone was busy syncing with stuff that had changed over night? It also happened at 03:20 this morning, and I was asleep at the time.
Thanks for the reply.
I assume you have a reservation for your Wifi Address for your phone.
Does your router reset ? You might check it’s logs.
There is a DHCP reservation, yes.
I’ve checked my routers logs, and on the last two occasions the LAN socket error popped up, the phone was firing off a DHCPREQUEST:
[tt]
May 3 12:59:02 dnsmasq-dhcp[3688]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) 192.168.1.64 b4:52:7e:68:82:c1
May 3 12:59:02 dnsmasq-dhcp[3688]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.64 b4:52:7e:68:82:c1 stuart-phone
May 3 22:10:58 dnsmasq-dhcp[3688]: DHCPREQUEST(br0) 192.168.1.64 b4:52:7e:68:82:c1
May 3 22:10:58 dnsmasq-dhcp[3688]: DHCPACK(br0) 192.168.1.64 b4:52:7e:68:82:c1 stuart-phone
[/tt]
My current message limit is 5 (which I have now increased to 20), so I don’t have any other occasions I can check against the router. When it happens again, I’ll post some more logs.
Thanks for the help.
I will see if there is a way to trap the specific error related to DHCP reservation.
In the past this would cause the code to stop listening … Now it will restart listening.
So I found the reason why some folks would stop hearing Vera Alerts … it was probably linked to the time time interval for a DHCP reservation which is different for different routers (default) or user (manual) settings.
For now you can increase your reservations time.
I’m seeing similar issues, with a statically assigned IP address.
However I don’t have a lan-profile configured (only a mobile one).
Check your phone … it’s not the VERA PLUGIN that generates this error.
It’s the config in the ANDROID APP … you must have a NON BLANK/ZERO LAN port.
Thanks Richard. that makes more sense that its an app error. I’ve been troubleshooting vera restarts and linked it as a possible cause/indicator incorrectly.
yes, a port number is configured (default? 2048). I previously wan’t aware of any errors per say - but knew i was missing delivery of the odd message.
I’ll monitor over time - as its less a concern than the restarts.
With a port# define the phone/tablet will use power much more quickly as well.
so, to try clarify…
Yep
But you really do not disable it in the PLUGIN … you either define/use it or you down’t.
