Vera Alerts Device deletes itself

I have an issue where I change the override message text on the Vera Alerts Device under Notification Configuration tab and hit Reload Luup and refresh the browser and all of a sudden when I go back to the devices tab the Vera Alerts Device is GONE. I have now lost all of the custom message text for a huge number of devices. Should I create a device for every notification? What is causing this? It has happened 3 or 4 times now. I am running Vera Alerts 6.33 and the latest UI7 firmware on a Vera3.

Sounds like your Vera may be overloaded (Memory wise) … and Vera is reverting to a previous state where things were working.

Do you know how to login to your Vera with ssh and check the memory ?
If not how many Z-Wave devices ?
How many (and what kind) of other devices do you have ?

About 25 actual z-wave devices, only 2 apps, Vera Alerts and Multiswitch, and 4 cameras. Almost all of the scenes I have relate to my 2 Yale door locks.A couple of scenes to arm and disarm Motion sensors and door switches. That is about it really. I have been thinking about factory resetting the unit, I have have had it for almost 4 years now and after several upgrades it seems a little wonky, especially this last one to UI7 latest. But I think it is just UI7.

The camera’s have had problems on UI7 … overloading Vera … but you should have plenty of memory.
You might want to go back to UI5 … unless there is a device that you have that is only supported on UI7.

I have a test system on UI7 … but I have not yet considered moving my house unit to UI7.

I don’t think I will be moving back to UI5, nothing I am doing is overly complicated. UI7 does work okay for what I need.

I have been thinking of dumping the cameras off Vera, I have a separate video recorder on order that I plan to use to record all of my cameras. I probably won’t though as it is just too convenient to see them in Imperihome.

The more I think about what I was doing when the device was deleted, the more I think it had something to do with that Reload Luup button. I was updating all of the Override Texts for about 20 scenes one after the other. I may have hit that Reload button far to many times and something crashed. I plan to look at my logs when I get home.

You do not need to hit the Reload button after each update.
Make all of your changes … When done … then do a reload, wait for it to finish, followed by refreshing your browser.
