Every few days my UI4 Vera2 on FW 1062 will slow down to a crawl and my prowl/growl notifications completely stop working. Takes for ever to logon to the web interface as well as to the vera box itself thru the advanced options. The uptime is never more than 45 mins. I have submitted a couple of tickets but not surprisingly — no response from tech support (their automated system replies back that they are gone for the holidays and will be back after the new yr !! - Hello - we are already well into 2011). I can’t figure out the relationship between vera slowing down and the prowl notifications not working. Something with the vera servers maybe? if that is the case, can I use my whs machine to do all the heavy lifting? Any feedback is appreciated. Looks like vera staff has delegated the customer service to the forum folks anyway. :
Most likely a firmware issue! Quite a few people had this happen and there were fixes put in for this type of thing.
My issues mirror yours exactly… I have the same FW you listed.
I’ve noticed that Vera reboots at least once an hour and that the CPU utilization grows from 2.0 immediately after the reboot, to about 16 afterwhich it reboots again. My guess is that they know all about this issue and hopefully will be corrected in the next FW release.
Oddly, I noticed that if you hit the refresh button on the GUI, that will cause the CPU to drop to a utilization of 8 or so.
I assume that the lower priority processes get stalled when CPU levels are high, and are probably lost when the device reboots. That might explain why notifications are sometimes not delivered at all, or are seriously delayed.
Rant: I understand whey MCV may have decided to save time by ignoring all the users so that can use their resources to fix/improve the product… but seriously, how long would it take for SOMEONE at MCV to drop a line to tell us what timeframe that are targetting for the next release. We are hearing that it is ‘close’, so why not share the plan so that those of us who are struggling to make this work can better budget our time. Just because MCV wants to be ‘efficient’ with their time, does not give them license to be wasteful of ours.
