Vera 3 - Firmware 1.7.692 installed 10 days ago, has been working great
Tried to install app from the store last night (Dynamic DNS)
Vera installed the app, then rebooted as normal, but never stabilized
Vera kept restarting over and over, probably 20 or 30 times, then died
Now the power light is flashing green/orange like its constantly trying to boot
Every 22-23 seconds all the lights will flash green, then the orange/green power light cycle starts over again
What I’ve done:
Unplugged for various amounts of time with no change
Unplugged network cable and USB drives from the unit with no change
Smacked it a few times for good measure
Waited a day for it to resolve itself
So I’m looking for advice. Does the “How to restore Vera 3” firmware flash procedure found on the wiki apply to this kind of failure? I wasn’t sure if this procedure will work the same because it was written years ago, and I am using a much, much newer firmware (1.7.692). I don’t want to cause myself more problems. Any ideas, or am I just screwed?
Thank you, not as much fun as tearing into it myself, but an email has been sent to support via the “Email Us” link on the website. Looks like they have assigned case # 130207 if anyone needs it.
Do you have a Vera lite ? If so you may have exceeded the memory limits … You need to be careful when you add plugins … unless you know you have enough memory for them. (Z-Wave devices do not need as much memory as a plugin instance).
Thanks to John @ Vera I’m up and running again. Had to telnet in and erase some stuff as listed in the pdf file Vera sent me. I attached the directions for reference.
I installed my most recent backup to restore my rooms, device names, plugins, and configurations. All seems to be working well. Thanks for the help.
