I note that in firmware version 1.5.254 on the Vera 3, there is no option indicating that it can be used as a switch, yet on one of the wiki pages, it shows that it was there.
Any ideas?

Its just a page for UI5 in general There is nothing specific about it being UI5 on a V3
As its working on a V2 with UI5, I expect that’s where the picture came from!
Thank you, but does that mean that the switch option was missed, or left out deliberately?
Just removed until they get it working. Its a OpenWRT issue allegedly!
Has there been any progress on the Vera as a switch option?
Thank you!
Not that I’m aware of, in terms of it being something the Beta team was given to test. Doesn’t mean MCV is not working on it internally.
Hi, Are there any updates on this? Is it now possible to use the vera as a switch?
Thanks
Does anyone know if this option in the net & wifi settings tab will be added back to Vera 3 so MiOS can be used as a switch?
it is in Vera 1 and was quite useful when there is a router already configure as a DHCP server, and this helps Vera act as a Wireless Access point.
Thanks!
Currently not possible on the Vera 3. The setting was there but removed as it didnt work properly. Supposedly an openWRT firmware issue.
I use to config openwrt via this url:
http://192.168.81.1/cgi-bin/webif/info.sh
it’s somewhat buggy interface. errors here and there. but wifi and switch config seems to work ok on my vera3
Has anything changed in the last 5 months? I just picked up a Vera3 and was hoping to use it as a switch to eliminate an extra 5 port layer 2 switch in my wiring closet.
There’s an experimental procedure that is being looked at by the beta testers. Why don’t you raise a support ticket and ask if you can try it on your Vera 3?
Just checking back to see if any progress has been made so that Vera 3 will act like a switch as Vera 2 did?

No more progress that I’ve seen.
18 months since the first inquiry… any progress on the Vera3 switch functionality???
Below is a modified response from a previous post on the beta forum. I would suggest that there is no leverage on any changes for this to become available as an option as the future designs of Vera seem to not include the same hardware as used by the Vera3.
This subject has been raised on numerous occasions and most recently as part of these two threads:
Vera3 wifi a real disappointment [Not anymore],
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,11497.0.html
Vera 3 as a switch
http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,11220.0.html
As a response to the above threads, testing was been performed with @futzle guidance and the initial result are posted here.

In addition to the above results, I have also been testing changes the VLAN port allocation to provide greater flexibility to utilising the additional Ethernet ports to “WAN” and therefore lifting some of the current restrictions of the Vera 3’s reported capability. This was a single, multiple and reverse port allocation as identified in the attachments. All activities returned positive results and no degradation in performance or any signs of the unit becoming unstable were observed over the last 2 weeks on two different units.
So far, it is repeatable, stable and robust. As it stands, there appears to be no physical limitation identified and the potential for users to changes the configuration of their unit exists with the correct guidance or via a script/GUI.

Do your notes above mean that this feature will be added back to the GUI soon?
No, this was done last year. I raised the ticket with MCV in Mantis to which they have never actioned and if they are moving to a different hardware platform in the future, I do not believe they will ever action it.

Make sure you have back ups before changing the settings.

Hmmm… Vera4?!?

They detailed their future products earlier this year at Cedia 2013 and there were discussion in the forum. They are suppose to introduce a few new model later in the year or sometime in the future.
