Vera 2.....what's happened ?

My vera two has been rock solid for a good few years. Came home last night to no lights on, hmm I thought maybe a quick reboot and all will be well. Rebooted , everything works as expected but this evening no lights again. Hmm maybe vera had lost track of time…

I open up the vera dashboard on my pc and I’m met with a layout ive never seen, ever!.

Running version 1.1.1365
Latest version 1.5.255

I was running UI5 version that I was sent by tech support, but somehow vera has done a full reset back to ui4.

Weird…

mzpost, you’re right, that is weird. I created a priority support ticket for you. Our Customer Care Team will get you sorted out right away.

Thanks!!. After a few goes ive managed to get back as far as UI5, however it’s not the version I was running which was one from tech support to allow me to run Fibaro motion sensor. Looks like all is not well as lua engine won’t start.

To be honest if this has cleared out all the “ghost” devices that were still in my Vera the it’s a blessing…just heavily disguised at the moment. Look forward to picking up with tech support.

I know they feel the heat on these pages at times,but full credit to tech support team. I’ve been emailed a link and had help already. That’s pretty dam fast!.

And then my new Vera arrived, I’ve had no choice but to go with the Edge. The guys as Vesternet also gave a positive noise about it so I trust them. So far it’s an improved experience of a V2 running UI5. The change over has not been a nice experience but I opted to go back to zero and start again to get a nice fresh install.

Add devices is a nice much faster experience. (similar to what I’ve seen on a friends V3).

Now the fun part, finding out which apps will / wont work.

mzpost, thanks for the feedback on your experience.

We are working with developers to make it easier for them to make their plugins UI7 complaint and are working on a way for users to know.

I’ve got a ticket raised for some odd scene behaviour (scenes work ok but appear multiple times).
