I have a Vera 2 running UI4 and have set up over a dozen different z wave devices (dimmers, plugs, secondary remotes, motions, etc.) already. I wen to add another HSM100 (multi sensor) tonight the same way I always do; unplug from main power, plug into charged battery pack, wait for Z Wave light to come on and be steady, tap the z wave button to get it into include mode (z wave light then blinks 3 times a second), trigger the plug/sensor/device, the z wave light rapidly blinks and then i press the z wave button again to save it.
BUT - now when I press the z wave button to get it to “include” mode, the light just turns off. Pressing the button again just turns it back on solid. I can’t get it into include mode anymore. I power cycled several times, also tried on main power - no luck.
I tried to test to see if I could get it into include mode using the UI4, so I went to act like I was adding a remote and I got an error that said;
“Command Failed: Not primary controller”
How’d that happen and how do I fix it? If this what is causing Vera2 not to do into include mode?
Its happened to a few people so you are not alone! I know of one person that solved it by resetting their Zwave network which is a bit extreme and also somebody else the MCV may have fixed theirs remotely. If you don’t want to reset your network (could be a lot of work to restore?) then I would put in a trouble ticket.
Hi: How did you solve this problem? I haven’t added anything else to my system and am having the exact same issue. I really don’t want to redo the network if it isn’t necessary. Any suggestions?
happened to me too, not certain but think it came in the box that way, when I read of others problems I checked mine, (vera2 which I only had a couple weeks) and sure enough it said it was was a secondary, the strange thing is it was allowing my to add modules, etc. I nuked my network anyway and rebuilt from scratch to be able to reset vera as primary
I guess I was a fool and assumed it would be primary, but it could be that it came from the factory like this. MCV, we need help here determining from the logs if Vera2’s are coming to customers as secondary instead of primary. I added all my remotes and handhelds the proper way, so I can’t imagine HOW my Vera2 switched to secondary after 4 days of use.
Im dreading the Exclude/Include shuffle again…
