vera 2 and UI4

I have a working vera 2 and have installed a few switches, but am baffled by the scene/command/timers. The documentation is not at all useful, basically just telling all the wonderful things that can be done without telling how. For example, I have tried for hours to get more than one command into a scene. All I want to do is turn on a light at sunset and turn it off at midnight. The only way I have figured out to do it is to create 2 scenes, the first one turns on the light at sunset, and leaves it on forever, and the second scene turns off the light at midnight and leaves it off forever. I know I can set the timer, but I want the lights off at a specific time every night.
This cannot possibly be the only way to do this? What am I missing?
Also, is it possible to upgrade to UI5? Is it worthwhile?
Also, is it too hard for micasaverde to have a pdf manual that is more efficient than the useless online manual they now have.
Thanks for your help,
Mike

Let me try to help you out on this…

For your scene with the lights going on or off, it possible to do it in one single scene. I use something similar with some motion sensors that I want to go on just for a period of time. First, add a command by selecting a device. For that device, a light for example, tell it what to do - turn it on. In the same menu (it usually shows “and leave it”, you can select the time you want it to be on and what to do next - go off.

You can had more commands by selecting the devices you want to command in the same scene.

Hope it helps.
