Well, my Vera 1 finally died (actually the Z-Wave dongle dies, constant blue light and no ability to reset the device). Being one of the first customers (I believe…) I have had my Vera running for almost 4 years and have only replaced the dongle when the newer programmable version was provided. From a hardware perspective Vera has been very reliable and lasted about as long as I could expect it to. I just upgraded to Vera 3, and upgrade was easy for me, just backing up old system and loading into new one, and all seems to be working fine for me. Only issue I have now is needing to re-set up SQ Remote to associate with the devices on the Vera 3 now, but other than that all has been easy.
constant blue light and no ability to reset the deviceFrom what I remember, the dongle LED only flashed with the old firmware. it stayed lit after the firmware upgrade. Are you sure you did the FW upgrade?
But in any event, it is resettable, if it locked up (which was the reason for the firmware upgrade) if you want to give it a try.
There’s a small hole on the back of the dongle in the lower corner, push a paper clip into it and hold for a few seconds before releasing it.
Hi my vera 1 has been in operation since 1/15/2010 with NO problems, vera in on a UPS. Used it remotely until we relocated in late 2010, vera 2 in the wings, waiting to go to work.
