using multiple cameras

I’ve got the Schlage cameras working as described on another thread but I can only get one to work at a time through Vera. Sorry if I’ve missed it, but I’ve poked around the documentation and here and I still haven’t found what will get it to work. I have two Panasonic cameras coming this week too so I’d really like to figure this out so I can use them all (using them for visibility to a vacation property when we’re away).

I’m suspecting it has something to do with port settings - I’ve got the cameras being assigned static IPs and unique ports from the router but that hasn’t fixed it. I’m sure it’s a simple config parameter I’m missing somewhere but I just can’t find it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I too have this issue. I have more than one camera. If I change my port to 80 I can see the first one, but I need to change the port to 1024 and 1025.

Ip address:1026
Ip address:1018
Etc

Just to elaborate on Brientim post, you need to put the port number into the IP address like this:

XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:1024 where the X’s are the camera’s IP address. (e.g. 192.168.1.121:1024). The next camera would be XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:1025 etc. I am successfully running three cameras on Vera this way.

hmm. Its not working for me. I have a Linksys WVC200 camera and i choose generic IP camera, manually add and enter this

http://192.168.1.26:1024/img/snapshot.cgi?size=2

but it comes back unable to get image.

if i set it to port 80, then it works.

Any ideas?

Do you have more than one camera or have you set up port forwarding that would require this. If not, the default HTML is 80 and therefore, you should not need to change to any other port http://192.168.1.26:80/img/snapshot.cgi?size=2 would be correct.

FYI If you have multiple camera are wanted to externally access them directly you would need to set up port forwarding/redirections as you can only access one thing on one port.

I have setup port forwarding. One cam is on 1024 and the other is 1025. The port in my camera setup is 1024 and the other is 1025.

Can I not do this?

Now the port forwarding is set up on your router which then enable remote access to be redirected.
Port forwading can either be to manage external access to several internal IP with the same port
e.g. 80 or to redirect to an internal IP on various ports.

Did you change the ports or the cameras?
If not, they would still be at their default and internally, this would be port 80 and I gather you haven’t.
Easy test. In your browser enter 192.168.1.XX then try 192.168.1.XX:Port
When you enter the IP address in your browser without the port does it work?
If so, you haven’t changed the port. Each camera would have a different IP address.
Test both and see if they react the same, if not log on and verify the cameras settings.

See wiki link below

Yes, Ive set the ports on the cameras to 1024 and 1025.

When I view them internally 192.168.1.26:1024 and 192.168.1.27:1025 they view fine.

externally publicip:1024 also works. I am sure my forwarding and camera ports are setup fine.

ITs only with Vera that it doesn’t work. In fact, If i change the camera port to 80 and setup within Vera it works fine.

Thats why I am so perturbed.

Where do you have these ports setup in Vera config once the camera is added?

In the Advance Tab
IP address should be XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:1024
URL should be /img/snapshot.cgi?size=2 (note does not include IP address)

see http://docs5.mios.com/doc.php?language=1&manual=1&platform=3Pro&page=ip_cameras

Yes great mistake for you. Here need to attached a new Camera and check out this. But this is not correct of fix then change the port.

do you have an IP camera?
