Not with out using lua / luup code (which might take some work to get going depending on the complexity).
Darn. That would be a nice feature. I’d really like that ability, personally. When you have a 1-zone system in a 3-floor house, being able to adjust for a different floor depending on the time of day would be a nice thing to have. I’m always turning the temp down at night because our bedroom is so much warmer than the first floor. It would be nice if I could set one temperature and then base it on a different sensor.
So I guess having additional temperature sensors is mostly for information purposes? You can set one sensor to be the main thermostat-setting sensor, can’t you?
I have the saem issue. One zone with three floors. I recently just installed ceiling fans on the top level (where all of the bedrooms are). Awhile back I was thinking of doing something similar to having temperature sensors through out the top level and having them average out to use for the thermostat. I never got around to doing this. Still trying to figure out what I want to use for temperature sensors (EDS 1-wire server and Chris’s 1-wire plugin). Then I would have to think about the software side. I would almost have to create a virtual type thermostat to use the sensors and issue the commands to the real thermostat. Not sure if the PLEG plugin would simplify this a little for the time being.
just a untested tought.
add a variable to a Virtual Device related to control the heating. like “SensorToUse” holds the device ID of the Sensor
the daynight plugin or the sleep scene does update this value with the sensor to use.
the temperature controller scene uses the new variable instead of the hardcoded id for the sensor ?
thats how i think of manage “change of input devices” based on daytime.
