Hi just wondering is the usb stick to detect devices required? Alternatively how do you set up each device in vera?

Some context would help. What kind of devices? What kind of Vera? What USB stick?

If you mean the USB Z-Wave dongle, it appears Vera is now available with built-in Z-Wave chip for the Australian market. See this topic.
