Just thinking through some of my upcoming setup/migration to a Vera plus (from UI5 on Vera3). With the additional memory and power, do folks feel it’s necessary to use USB logging still?
I know at one point it was commonly thought that USB logging was needed for HA on UI5, but my personal testing indicated that was really only true on the VeraLite. I know several of us stopped using USB logging on UI5/Vera3 because we thought it improved performance and stability.
External logging is not needed as a means of resource conservation on the new devices.
However, if you would like to retain logs for more than 24 hours…
Ah… makes sense. No other way to do that?
You could use an external system to scrape the log nightly before it gets rotated. But, USB logging is far easier.
