usb dongle / antenna?

Another newb question. Currenty my network equipment is in a locked metal cabinet. (Wifi antennas are extended thru
to outside of case). Anyone have their unit enclosed in something like this? Is there some kind of external antenna available
to attach to the z-wave dongle? I see this as a possible problem with range or it may really block all signals.

Use a USB extension cable and put the dongle outside the metal cabinet.
