Upgraded to 979 - So What About Leviton Scene Controllers?

I just upgraded to 979, and everything seems to be fine. When I go into my existing Leviton Scene Controller device within Findvera, it’s still as I left it, with the checkbox for “Treat Scene Buttons as Events” checked (i.e. Method #2). I did this because I currently have a non-Leviton lamp module in the scenes I want controlled, and Method #1 wasn’t controlling the HomeSettings lamp module. But here’s my question…

When I go into the “Custom Zwave Settings” section, I no longer see the button to “Add Scenes to Buttons” (i.e. Method #1). Can I assume (does anyone know) that with this latest upgrade, the appearance of that button has been intelligently linked to the checkbox on the main form, meaning if I uncheck the “Treat Scene Buttons as Events” box, I will then be able to revert to Method #1 and add scenes to buttons within the “Custom Zwave Settings” form?

This is sort of an obvious question, but I’m asking because when I was on 939, and attempted to do this, it blew up my whole network, and I had to start from scratch. So I’m a bit gun-shy.

979 has been tested to fully supports all the Leviton scene controllers, include the new ones Leviton is just releasing now that control local loads. We also eliminated the method #1 and method #2. It’s now fully automatic. See http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php?topic=2427.msg9631#msg9631

OK, but just so I’m clear, if at present, after upgrading to 939, I open up the control panel for my Scene Controller and see that I still have the checkbox checked to “Treat Scene Buttons as Events”, can I simply uncheck this box, and then assign scenes to the scene controller buttons?

Again, I’m being extra anal about understanding this because I got stung so bad last time I tried to switch this around.

Thanks.

If you start out fresh with 979 you’ll never have a “Treat Scene Buttons as Events” check box. If you’re upgrading from an old one, the check box will still be there, but it will now have no effect. It’s effectively always checked in 979 and higher. So if you used to use method #2, it will still work fine in 979, it’s just that now with 979 Vera will automatically program scene capable devices directly into the scene controller. If you used method #1 in version 939, then it won’t work in 979; you have to click ‘add event’ for the scene and add it that way. Basically with 979 you set it up like you did with method #2, but now Vera does both method #1 and method #2 at the same time.

Got it, makes sense now. Thank you.
