I’m hoping I can more help from the forums than I’ve been getting from tech support. I knew this upgrade would probably be difficult and took off from work on Friday to give myself a three day weekend to get everything done, but I didn’t expect it to be this difficult.
Here is the scenario:
I initially had to call tech support for help in creating a new account for UI7, for whatever reason it wouldn’t let me create a new account, after that the support technician performed the migration to the new edge. Sad thing is, as soon as the restore was done he said “have a nice day” before anything was tested.
Now onto specific problems:
Turns out every device got a different “Device_ID” so basically every setting and LUA code needed to be redone, fine, did that. Problem is none of the sensors are triggering or doing what they are supposed to. I have Aeon door/window sensors, Fibaro flood sensors, and Philio 3-1 sensors. None of them work even after excluding and including some of them.
One of 3-1 sensors is supposed to trigger a scene, but it is turning on 4 devices even after I disable the scene. Tech support said I must have direct associations between devices, but I know I didn’t do that and I would have had that problem on the old Vera.
The rest of the 3-1 sensors don’t even trigger or at least don’t show in the GUI or do what they are supposed to. I figure if I can get one sensor to consistently work I would troubleshoot the other ones.
The Aeon door/window sensor after excluding and including still shows “Waiting for wakeup to configure device”. Tech support told me to open a ticket. Sometimes it does show when it is open.
I’m hoping someone here has gone through similar troubles when they did a migration and can share some ideas or procedures so I can at least troubleshoot. I always feel so helpless when I have trouble with the Vera, because it seems like everything must be done by tech support on the back end. I used to love the little message box at the top of UI5, at least it gave me somewhere to look. I also used to pull the LuaUPnP.log as well, but it seems different than it used to be. UI7 also seems to take forever to move around in, I wish their was a CLI interface I could use to make the changes I want (even for just renaming a device).
I know change can be difficult and sometimes it is just a matter of getting used to things, but I just feel like I’ve exhausted everything I can do on my own and tech support basically just wrote me off. I thought I had done my due diligence going through and reading the forums beforehand to make sure I was prepared for everything. I wish their was a book for the “inner workings of vera” at this point. Hell I’d even pay for a class at this point to give me the ability to do what Level 2 support does.
