Can anyone confirm that updates from apps.mios.com are automatically pushed to their vera’s running on UI5?
For example the wake on lan plugin recently was updated, did the update auto install you your vera’s? The plugins “variable container”, “virtual switch” or “heliotrope” were updated too for example, did any of you get the updates automatically or a are you still running on the old versions?
With my vera2 on 1.5.255 I am not getting any updates at all. I can do it manually if I realize there are updates…
There needs to be an app to report on system configuration. Installed apps and last updated etc.
I am not using UI5, I tried the install script as detailed in WOL, but that did not update my unit, so I did it manually.
Yes, with UI4, it should have installed Version 1.52 and the script indicated, it had ran to completion. But the plugin was not updated. It was not a problem as a simple manual install rectified this.
So that app which is supposed to report the system configuration, is this maybe missing in the firmware 1.5.255?
Sorry, I am saying MCV should develop an app to report on the system configuration. Currently, this is not simple way to determine what version of the plugin is installed. The extension of this would be to identify orphaned/redundant plugin files and then a script to remove them. I am not sure how they are managing the deployment of the auto installation of new plugin versions and @futzle has identified concerns especially with security plugins. I have additional concern with business or system critical use of this appliance and believe they need to allow users to have the option to opt out. Personally, I would normally opt for auto update; however, we all know of instances where this has caused more issues then they have resolved. When planning to implement auto update they need to ensure both the release and regression testing is holistic.
So it seems like I did get an automatic update from the SQ Blaster plugin (0.20 => 0.21). I don’t know why this is functioning now, I will continue to check on that and see if this always works, or if it is plugin dependent.
And I completely agree with brientim and futzle that this can’t be a final solution. I think there should be at least three options to choose from in the vera:
Disable Updates
Notify me of Updates but don’t install them automatically
