Update broke PLEG (LUA Error - in Vera window)... Downgrade to PLC 7.48 fixed

Running UI5

None of my PLEGs ran this morning (worked fine late last night)… found Vera3 status window showing errors: PLEG and LUA Errors. After downgrading to PLC 7.48 no more errors

You will want to disable auto updates. Richard warned UI5 users about this… (although I can’t locate that post right now…)

NOW I remember - he emailed to registered users:

Plugin Updates Coming

Folks,
As a licensed user I wanted to drop you a note to let you know there are changes coming for the Vera Alerts, Program Logic Event Generator, and Program Logic Timer Switch plugins.

I will no longer be making ANY changes for UI5 or UI6. If you are still running on one of these platforms you should disable the “Auto Update” feature for these plugins. Otherwise your system will likely break. I highly recommend this for ALL plugins unless you know there is active development going on.

This can be done with the following steps:

Open the Apps Tab
Open the My Apps Sub Panel (Opened by Default)
For each APP
On UI5 … Click the link next to the ICON, On UI7 Click Details.
Uncheck the Auto Update box. (On UI7 this reloads Vera, So it takes a while)
On UI5 you need to click the red “Save” button on the upper right.
If you are a UI7 user you may also want to disable my Plugins otherwise you will likely suffer a period of instability while the new changes are being Beta Tested. (I.e. if you leave Auto Update enabled, you will be a Beta Tester!).

I will send out another message when UI7 changes have stabilized including a list of new features. If you want to follow the progress you can follow the Beta Test updates on the Vera Forums:
Program Logic Plugins
Vera Alerts Plugins

thanks for reposting.

totally forgot to do this.

I will say that there was already another PLC version just now for me (8.13) that seemed to fixe the problem so far.

Thanks for the quick reply… I didn’t get an email and I’m registered.

I reinstalled 8.13 and the error seems to have gone away and PLEGs are running again.

Should I backout all of the PLC/PLEG updates back to pre-8.x ?

Good question. I did turn off autoupdate… so if it’s working, not sure. Richard?

Hi Aaron,

I think I have the same problem. Could you guide me on how to downgrade to PLC 7.48. I am also running UI5.

Thanks!

Juan

If you don’t have a backup handy, I think that this shows you how to do it:

http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,14446.0.html

At the bottom there is roll-back instructions and see that RTS just updated this post in June around the time he advised UI5 users not to update any further-

If you accidentally upgrade your Vera running UI5 to a UI7 version, you can recover by restoring the latest UI5 version:

http://YourVeraIPAddress:3480/data_request?id=action&serviceId=urn:micasaverde-com:serviceId:HomeAutomationGateway1&action=CreatePlugin&PluginNum=PLUGIN#&Version=VERSION#

Where:
Plugin Name Plugin # Version #
PLEG 3066 27996
PLTS 3018 28001
PLC 3086 28802

Aw crap - realized that while I disabled auto-update on my main HA Vera3, I didn’t on my VeraLite. I have PLEGs on it, but not in use. Guess I will try this procedure tonight. I have back-ups, but can test the above first…

Thanks for the link. Do you have a suggestion on the PLC and PLEG versions I have to rollback to?

Regarding the syntax to use… if I want to go to PLC 7.48, shall I enter “748” as version#?

Thanks!

Juan

See the table in the previous response … it shows the Version #

Yes, sorry. I was not reading carefully… I have now downgraded both PLC and PLEG and the problem is gone. I have also set auto-update to off.

Many thanks to all!
Juan

FYI I was also able to roll back to a previous Vera backup (mine seems to backup every night?) to fix things. Then I turned off Auto-Update.

I’m on (I think) UI7 - I just have a VeraLite that I bought about 2 years ago. I tried to downgrade PLEG and PLC based on what I found and it took me back to a very old looking version of PLEG (I’m assuming the UI5 versions).

I was gettting: Error executing function pleg_Inputs(): pleg_Inputs is not a function

Anyway, I’m back to where I was a week ago - all in good working order.
