Can someone please instruct me on how to have my Vera 2 (UI5) keep the time reliably for the schedules I have set for my lights without having internet access? I set up my aquarium lights to run on a schedule and left for the weekend only to return very late and find them still on. Looking at the webserver page I could see that somehow the Vera thought that it was 12 hours (and 3 months) earlier. I have some pretty expensive, fancy fish and having the lights on for extended periods of time and at irregular hours will stress them and possibly cause illness. Needless to say I am not very happy about this.
Surely the Vera can do what a watch from a gumball machine can do with no problem?

Vera has no real time clock and requires to connect to the Internet to update its time. If you search the forum there are a few solutions to work around this.

Vera has no problem keeping time as long as it get's it time set at boot time. Requires that the network is working properly at that time.
Vera uses RDATE to set the unix time … whihc only runs at power start (Linux Boot) You can install ntpclient … but that runs all the time eating up memory … and memory is a precious resource on Vera. So if you network is stable and available when Vera restarts … it’s wasting memory. If your network is not stable when Vera reboots it is memory well spent.

I may set up an NTP server on my Tomato router, but that may be a little tricky for me.
I suppose a simpler solution would be to hook it up to a back-UPS.
