Universal remote programming

Short version: How do I get new IR commands to “stick”? There is no save option when I learn an IR command and save it to an existing button. (Vera2, UI5).

Long version:
I’m trying to create a universal remote control and having a few problems. My setup is a Vera2 with UI5 and a USB-UIRT.
Using the web interface I can add my Samsung TV no problem and control it using scene’s. However I’m trying to add my satellite box now and there is no preconfigured device available (it’s a Samsung Sky HD box, I’m in Ireland).
What I’ve done is added a random IR device, then used the setup option to learn a new command for a button. It learns the remote fine and when I test it, it works great.
At this point there is no save button, I just have to click on AV Gear at the top. When I click back into the remote and test the new command, it works. However when I run it through a scene it doesn’t work. And when I go back in again afte a few minutes it has forgotten the new code.
How do I make a new IR code stay?
Is there any way I can create my own IR device from scratch?
Does anyone have a file for the samsung SKY HD box? (and how would I install it?)

Sorry if this is repetition, but I had a decent look through this forum and couldn’t find what I was looking for.

Sorry to self bump, but I might have made the original post too long winded.

  • Can anyone point me in the direction of a how-to guide on creating custom IR codes that work in scene’s using Vera 2, UI5 and USB-UIRT?

Thanks!

Excuse me Niall,
but this device USB-UIRT is vera compatible ?
how you added a scene using this device in vera ?

thanks for clear this for me…

Hello Niall,

Have a look at details contained in this thread. Basically, you can create the device using the guided setup and then modify in impl_file with the correct IR codes for your equipment.
