So… does Vera constantly poll ip cams for fresh images? I assume it does. Just wondering if this starts to add up to any kind of a delay when you have multiple cams…?
I cant speak for the IP cams but I do have 12 generic camera plugins configured to pull the Jpeg files from a dedicated camera server and display within Vera with no problems. The refresh rate on the local network is about once per second and about 1 / 2 seconds on a remote connection or over 3G.
The refresh rate is slightly faster through iVera for whatever reason and I can only view one camera at a time but have had 6 Mios sessions active each displaying a different camera with no issues.
JOD.
Which reminds me JOD, did you ever figure out how to control the MOLE cams?
Ummm…NO.
I have a damn good memory and do remember your post a while back about this. I dont recall me saying I was going to work out the params though but if I did it’s not like me to either forget or fail to deliver. I remember at the time I was working on pulling the imgage file from Rovio and working out the controls, but have had issues with my Vera and put that on the back burner …
Are you sure it was me?
JOD.

Just re-read the post and you’re right, it was “lowerpower”.
I will have to agree with JOD; I have 4 cameras (generic plugin) with Vera and they refresh JPEG images every second when on the local network and every 2 - 3 seconds when accessing them on a 3G connection through Vera.
Hmmm
Let me rephrase the question… I was wondering if when you are NOT looking at the camera through vera, does vera still sample images, or if only when triggered by a scene.
@ Les F → I can confirm that VERA only requests video streams (generic IP camera driver) when you open the camera itself; otherwise it is not asking for anything. If you are asking VERA to do any recording, then video will be requested when recordings need to take place. Polling interval is about 1FPS (best case scenario) when the camera view is opened on the VERA interface.
It will be great if anyone having access to the VERA logs is able to see the same thing; as I was able to get this information from the camera logs.
