I’m trying to get a scene to restart my (wireless) broadband connection every night, by cutting power to my antenna then returning it a few seconds later. I can’t seem to get it to work though, as when my Vera Edge loses its Internet connection, this appears to cause it to restart its services and it never gets to the second step of the scene to return power to the antenna. I don’t understand why loss of Internet causes this to happen - is this expected behaviour?
Edit - just realised the post title is rather confusing / stupid. Wish I could change it!
OK, I’ll log a call with support!
I had a response:
Thank you for contacting Vera Smart Home Control! If you have set up into your system, schedule scenes, please note that if the internet connections is down the schedule scenes will not work properly. Our controller takes the time from the internet and if the network connection is down, the unit will lose the date and time. As soon as the unit is back to internet, it will take a couple of seconds for it to synchronize with the actual time. The schedule scenes that were programmed to work while the internet connection is down , the will run the next day.
I replied to suggest this doesn’t seem quite right as scheduled scenes still work after the internet connection has gone offline, it’s just scenes that were running at the point it happens get killed.
I’ve got a workaround for my issue anyway. I now have two scheduled scenes; one that powers off the internet device, then another one 5 minutes later (giving time for restarts) that powers it on. Has been working a treat.
