Unable to add devices to Vera...

I’ve had my Vera for about 2 weeks now and have been unable to add devices. I am getting nowhere with tech support, so thought I’d try here as a last resort before sending it back. Tried all the methods for adding devices listed in the instructions and no devices ever appear. After my 2nd ticket with tech support, I was told my dongle was bad and a new one would be shipped. Long story short, no new dongle has arrived yet, but I did manage to procure another known good one for testing from a co-worker.

However, it’s the same issue. I am unable to add devices via any method I try. Here is a screenshot when I try the method where the dongle is left in the back of Vera…

Here is a direct link in case this one is too small

All that happens is that I get the number “2” across the top where it says “nodes so far…”…then it finishes and no new devices ever appear.
*things i have tried. resetting Vera, reflashing latest firmware, excluding devices (verified that are not paired to any other network), tried different ports on back of Vera, tried numerous different devices. Anyone have any ideas? or can you see anything wrong in this screenshot?

I have only tryed the method where you "remove the Z-Wave dongle from the Home Gateway ". Unless it is a controller.

But if you want to know, if your dongle is ok, Z-command use the same type of dongle. So you can download a Z-Command demo http://www.z-command.com/index.php/download and try it with that.

If you attempt to add devices farther than 3-6 feet from Vera that could be your problem . Remove the dongle from vera. and follow the instructions.
i f you are adding a secure device like the Schlage lock you must do so directly from vera with the dongle attached. Use Method # 2 I like that better. Let vera configure the lock it can take about 15 minutes to complete.

I haven’t even messed with my Schlage lock yet, since I can’t get a simple lamp module to add. I’ve tried with the Vera and the module(s) inches from one another.

You say you tried a co workers dongle. It is the same brand?
Did you re-set the dongle or was it still programmed to your co-workers network.?

After resetting the dongle Remove it from vera. Take to the module needed to include. Press the button on the dongle and then on the device to include. The dongle will blink rapid if succes.

Note: The device will remember a failed or prior inclusion. You may need to exlude a device before inclusion.

Take a look at the logs Advanced Tab> Logs > show Zwave jobs. If the node is added there will be a nod ID plus dates and times tech stuff.

Just as an FYI, new dongle from micasa verde resolved the issue. i obviously managed to get a busted one.
