UI7 Dashboard

Is there any possibility to shrink the size of the “bricks” in the dashbord? See my attached image, the space in the red square is not used but I can’t get rid of it, I have tried a lot of things in my json file but still it is ridiculous big. The dashboard is nearly useless if you come up in 40-50 devices, for example why do they have this big whitespace as I have marked with a blue square? And yes it is a bit better if I choose to see it in Listform BUT then I can’t control my lightswitch without click on settings and move to next page, stupid!

It is a lot of wild guessing to change the json file for UI7, there is a lot of things that seems to be deprecated and the documentation is not “crystal clear”.

I have not found a way myself…and I agree that in particular the UI7 dashboard display documentation is spase at best.

There was a meeting about just this yesterday. There are a lot of things being worked including exactly what you’re talking about and full documentation. I’ll provide more details when I have them.

Thanks, Mark. For me personally, this is a particularly bothersome sore-point.

The way things are implemented now, it appears that some of the JSON key names appply to only UI5, some only to UI7…and some to both…but the UIs respond in different (non documented) ways.

Marc & Joey, maybe have a look at http://forum.micasaverde.com/index.php/topic,30310.0.html
maybe there could be some idea in my proto you want to consider. in particular ability for plugin authors to customize dashboard in javascript and much better use of the screen real estate in all possible form factors… let me know your thoughts

I will definitely take a look at it! If nothing else, if enough developers contribute it can evolve into vehicle for us to to express what we see as a UI paradigm we’d like to see.

I’m sure Vera have their own goals for the UI, but there’s nothing like a working “model” to express ideas. Great work.
