I have been trying to find why my UI7 kept randomly showing me the error “cannot write user data”.
Been trying different things and what I have found is that the error message only shows up when the VeraAlert application is installed, tried installing, removing other applications but the message only showed up when VeraAlert is installed.
I am not doing anything with VeraAlert when it happens, I might not even be logged in when it happens, but once I uninstalled it again, message stopped showing up.
It’s not a message from the Vera Alerts plugin.
I reinstalled it, going to try again.
Rebooted device after reinstalling VeraAlert, message has not come back in a week, don’t know what that was about, thanks Richard.
I just ran into the same problem. The device seemed functional (entry way light triggered when door was unlocked) but my EnOcean plugin failed to function.
I rebooted the VeraLite and the message went away but the EnOcean device failed to work. The driver even failed to load. After unplugging/plugging the USB dongle the driver loaded but the plugin failed – it ended up that the serial configuration was reset.
Once I reconfigured the serial port settings the EnOcean plugin lit back up and it works as expected.
Question to any Vera folk: WTF? This, along with other shortcomings, is starting to erode my confidence in this product.
After a few reboots I have found that:
[ul][li]The Vista randomly fails to detect the USB dongle thus the driver fails to load[/li]
[li]If I unplug then replug the USB dongle the driver loads fine[/li]
[li]Even if the driver is loaded sometimes the settings are not present (I have to reconfig serial settings like speed, etc)[/li]
[li]I am randomly seeing a logged error “can not write user data”[/li][/ul]
It seems that it isn’t an EnOcean plugin thing and instead more of a Vera thing. Can someone comment on this? Anyone seen this before?
