UI / Refresh problems on iPad

I just upgraded via magic URL as I had lost update notifications, rebooted and restarted LUA a few times. On opening AltUI I then got another update notification that I accepted. Now on loading (iPad Pro) I get a lot of screen refreshes and very rapid flickering in the top areas of the screen , including menus appearing and disappearing. I see briefly an unregistered message (I’ll contact you off forum re this as I previously contributed). Eventually after maybe 15 seconds and a dozen screen rebuilds it settles down but I have no footer showing my regname or the version so I’m not certain which version is loaded (likely current as I get no upgrade prompt on launch). Sticky footer is unchecked.

This refresh happens when I come out of background too, and it makes AltUI unusable really as it takes those 15 secs to settle … Any ideas? I’ll try it on a PC browser shortly to check what happens there.

OK - Having run this on a PC with Chrome I now see that there is a vertically spinning text field for the unregistered version line at the top of the page , but this doesn’t display as such on the iPad - it’s just a mess of field areas and causes the constant rebuilds of the menus / page - maybe exacerbated by the theme I use.

On a PC the footer does now show version 1.01.1050 and my user name and unregistered version. I’ll drop you a PM with that info which may hopefully fix the iPad issue but it will I guess be there for unregistered / new users.

name should be fixed.
regarding ipadpro can you try without any theme first just to make sure ?
let me know

My refresh problems have gone since the username was registered. I assume the check is one time and doesn’t require ongoing Internet availability ? As this has been registered I don’t think adding/removing the theme is a useful test though now is it ?

I edited/deleted the rest of this post - I was having problems with LUA restarts when accessing AltUI from another iPad causing blank screens as it was reloading. So I cleared the Vera website data from that iPad and now it all seems stable.

I still don’t get the username/version footer displayed on my iPads though. I’ll check if that’s a theme issue.

the check happens at ALTUI load time, as part of the new upgrade check ( same check ). I have not tried without internet what happens. it should not create problem and I think I default without messages. Would still be good to try to figure out what s wrong , is it your theme or is it ipadpro browser not properly working with CSS3 transforms & animations.

now that you are registered, I am joining here a version that will consider you NOT registered so you could experiment more on ipadpro, maybe without your theme first to see exactly what happens.

Once done, restore the right version by reinstalling altui

I’ll give that a try when I get a moment to see if I can narrow it down.

I have eliminated the iPad Pro as a specific model as I was seeing the same behavior on an iPad 3 and an iPad Air, all running iOS 9.2

humm… I am running on ipad air ( 1 ) with unregistered user and a blackly theme without any issues.

Interesting - iOS 9.2 and you see the spinning unregistered text at the top and you get the bottom footer OK ?

Looks like it’s only me then, which is good I guess. I was new to CSS and my theme was originated from Darkly and then very much a chop / change / see what happens approach, so it could well be the culprit. Main changes were just colour to become dark slate green, and I did change the sliders and on/off bitmaps (since superseded)

I’ll keep you updated if I find anything.

yes 9.2 and I get the spinning 5 times then the footer with the red text. altui 1050.
you can quickly test some other themes from MISC/Themes ( reload/refresh) and then reset your own with the Reset button on that page normally

That’s useful - I had avoided trying this because I hadn’t appreciated you could revert easily - you think of everything

Just tried and with standard Darkly I do get the footer back - I’ll try with the ‘always false’ version to check on the spinning text.
I suspect this is because I used your suggestion from a way back for donated versions to hide the ‘PayPal donate’ footer.
