UI for Android touch panels?

After starring at those old fashioned $1000+ home automation touch panels… and then on this nice Android tablet, priced under $200, I’m starting to think that not having a proper Android UI for Vera is a kind of luxury only few can allow to themselves these days - think about it…

I beleive someone on the forum was working on Android UI long time back and there even was a pre-release…

Well, it might be the time to get serious about it…
MID, the “crossover” devices are ideal for controlling AV and other equipment, are getting better, cheaper, and actually available, and they tend to come with Android

Ah, it’s called Home Buddy, not sure if it’s alive anymore. @325xi, you were saying it didn’t work for you…

My understanding is that one Android app should work on any Android devices - be it smartphone or tablet. Right?

Yep, Android is Android.

It’s very cheap to build in-wall panel similar to the tablet mentioned, thus unlike the overpriced “official” panels these could appeal to much broader clientele. The “kewl”-factor is still there, you know.

And the fact the same app could be used on the Android phones is a bonus

Now that looks like a kewl way of turning on and off my lights. Besides there are a lot of new Android phones coming out and the new 1.6 os is due out this month also.

Nice, maybe I’ll have to use my 3com Audrey - now I’m dating myself ::slight_smile:

my plan is to have air4vera running on android when android will support adobe air.
I think that support is around the corner, so it wont be long. In the meantime, air4vera
is getting better.
