I haven’t used the mFi stuff, preferring to stick with a single protocol(z-wave), but I use many other Ubiquiti products and they are pretty good. They are excellent for their price.

I am looking for the right smart switch, and I sure would prefer z-wave. But if someone creates a plug-in for this, I might end up with a Pro model.
Sure wish Aeon Labs would do their Smart Strip. But right now the link on their home page returns a nice 404 error.

Sorry to open an older post but was wondering if there is or could be a plugin built for the Ubiquiti mPower strips these things are very dependable and great for reporting usage. I have two of them and would love to control it thru the Vera using irule remote for a home theater setup.

I just got an Ubiquiti mPower pro for xmas. I also got the web control power switch. I know the latter has a plugin for it, but doesn’t show power consumption. I would prefer to use the mPower because of it’s power consumption reporting. Was there a plugin ever done for this? I may try and tackle a plugin on my own, but free time is somewhat lacking, so I may not ever get it done.

Was there any progress on this? I just stumbled over the Ubiquiti power products on amazon and it looks like they would be a perfect fit for some uses under Vera control.

So their (UBNT) expected usage model is that you control these things via their console. If you staple down the device’s IP address (associating their MAC with address at router), you can do a fair amount with them via SSH commands independently. And if you have the console running, you get access to a fairly articulate MongoDB store of power usage. We have some cron jobs running that query the DB and make decisions based on recent device load history (mostly for waking up printers and such).

But we’re fine with having things be hybrid. Our Vera2 is plugged into an mFi outlet–so can power-cycle Vera if it gets wedged when we’re away. We have the stuff in the server enclosure plugged into one of the 8-way mFi Pros so we can cycle servers or NAS if they go unresponsive.

The mFi outlets are actually running a tiny Linux core. So you can set cron jobs up that run on the outlets. Makes them pretty flexible.

I didn’t find a Ubiquiti plug in in the Vera store. Is there such a thing?
