Hope I’m not asking too basic a question, but how do I get a Z-Wave remote to work with Vera? I’d like to get it to open and close my curtains and control the lights in my lounge, but there seems to be no easy way (other than via directly linking the lights and blinds to the remote, which works perfectly, but then I can’t use Vera to automate their operation) - at least no obvious way I’ve found.
I can add the remote to the Z-Wave network, that’s no problem. And then? How on earth do you configure things to link the functions to the devices?
Any help would be much appreciated, and for reference here is a link to the manual for the remote: [url=http://www.elec-solutions.com/images/stories/Products/TZ3300/TZ3300%20868%20User%20Manual.pdf]Page Not Found
You should be able to include all of your shade motors and lights that you want on the TZ3300, then set up scene’s using the remote, then replicate the remote to Vera following the instructions under the heading Controller Replication as Secondary Controller. You should see all of the devices that you included in the TZ3300 appear in Vera’s UI, allowing them to be controlled through Vera as well. If you still have trouble you can always file a compatibility guarantee claim with MCV and see if they’ll add functionality.
I’ll have to pick-up one of these remotes (one of the few Z-Wave remote with a “STOP” button) and put it through its paces soon (I forgot it existed).
Hi everybody
I have read carefully the manual of TZ3300, I have done everything, but unsuccesfull.
First I added Forest Z-Wave receiver to TZ3300 than I tried to add TZ3300 to vera.
I tried every ways of adding devices:
Add heandheld remote, add controller, etc.
Sometimes there is only empty _scene_controller sometimes nothing.
Can you get the TZ3300 to control the shade before you add the TZ to Vera? I know the TZ can be a challenge just getting it to work with a shade motor or controller sometimes. Once you get it set up it works well I know.
If you can’t get it to operate the shade directly, then it might be that it is including into Vera correctly, but doesn’t have any device info in it. If you had already got the remote controlling the shade directly and getting it copied into Vera is the only problem maybe @MikeT had some luck and will respond.
People have been having a lot of success with scene controllers like the Minimote UI5. Which version of the firmware are you running?
Hi
I can answer my own question.
As for now TZ3300 works together with Vera3.
Of course Forest curtains worked with TZ 3300 before.
What was the problem?
At the beginning I tried add TZ 3300 as secondary controler useing
Setup/Z-Wave Settings/Advanced/Copy Z-Wave network from a master controller
or Devices/Add Devices/Advanced Z-Wave Devices/Add Mios to Another Z-Wave Network
(I hope they are the same commands. Are not they?).
And I pressed Include button on Forest TZ 3300.
After that I got _Scene_Controller on Dashboard without any option and curtains stoped to work even with TZ3300.
But now I unchecked first three options in Setup/Z-wave Settings/Option/
[ul][li] By default MiOS should automatically configure devices - NOT[/li]
[li] Use Z-Wave version 3.20 instead of 2.78 - NOT[/li]
[li] Use MiOS routing instead of Z-Wave - NOT[/li][/ul]
and repeated above procedure. And something more - I paired curtains on channel 5 on TZ 3300 (I don’t know if it matters?)
After that it works.
Somebody knows which option was the most important
So I am happy
regards
By the way, shouldn’t the two options use the same name?
I mean “Copy Z-Wave network from a master controller” and
“Add Mios to Another Z-Wave Network”.
If I understand well, the options should be called “Copy Z-Wave network from another controller - Mios will be a master controller”
or shorter “Add another controller as a secondary” or something like that?

Z-wave 3.20 does not support secondary controllers. So this is what was causing the other controller not to work when paired to vera.
