TrickTV / Vera

(This should probably be under A/V control…or ?)

First of : What is the difference between TrickTV and Vera?

I was planning on buying TrickTV “ControlStation” controller because of the interface on the samsung tv, but I don’t see any difference in software. I already got vera2, SQblaster+ etc… so I don’t need everything else.

Is it possible to get just the interface software on the samsung smart tv? I’m talking about the possibility of controlling vera directly on the tv. I sounds to me like it should be a TrickTV app in the Samsung App store, or am I wrong? Note: I have a Samsung Smart TV 2012 model.

Tricktv is Vera. Think of Vera as the oem. Tricktv is a re branded Vera and they created an app for the tv. There are several threads about it. I believe the Tricktv app should work with Vera with no issues.

Anyone know if the app for Samsung TVs ever showed up?

I was trying to find it to try it out with my Vera 3.

Yes, there is an Samsung TV app. If you sort by date modified, it was last 23 Jul 2012.

Does anyone know of anyway tO get this kind of feature without having a Samsung Smart TV.

You mean to control Vera through a web browser or similar on a TV?

One option is to buy a Google TV box. Like the logitech revue that can be had for cheap.

See also cross post here.

I meant through the TV as an Overlay like TrickTV. I also saw a few options on YouTube from 4HomeMedia and some others but they seem to be OEM solutions for providers to implement.

So far I love Vera and how simple everything has been. I have several other people that want me to set up their house for them as well. The only thing I see that is really missing is making it as easy as TrickTV and Control4 to access and control everything from your TV remote. Even if it was a few hundred dollars it would be cheaper than buying a new 65" TV or a Control4 system.

If TrickTV and Vera are essentially the same, you can use the components on the TrickTV website with Vera? The price differences are somewhat dramatic…

Anyone have a clear idea here? Is the Trick TV control station just a rebranded Vera lite? If so, can I just get that (its a lot cheaper at $50) to use in my Z wave network?

I believe its just a rebranded Vera-lite.
