transmission Failed

Dear All;

I am facing a problem, a huge one actually

i have unplugged a device from electricity because i don’t that device to work at all at this time
i have a scene associated with this device, so when vera tried to turn on this device it goes into a 10 minutes loop trying to reach this device and not completing this scene or doing any other function!

i have to wait 10 minutes (or so) so my vera will stop trying to reach this device
I have only 13 devices, i believe this time will increase for more devices

Can I reduce this time?or make vera try once for example?or continue work and then return this one later?

Thank you

till now im getting views but no replies :frowning:

Why not just remove the device from the scene until it is put back?

i want a more practical solution
like reduce this time…the time which vera tries to connect to this device

There really isn’t a practical way. Another solution is to create a virtual switch and have the scene check if it is on and run only when on.

I think the practical way is to remove it from the scene, just like garrett is saying, and not trying to change the error handling.

Wouldn’t one option be to ping/poll the device by luup code in the scene an then only changing it’s status if it is reachable? And again, why trying to make it sooooooooo complicated if you can just remove it from the scene.

Strange approach you have, there’s such a simple solution, why try to find a hard way?

actually i am not talking about this case in particular

for example lets say, if using zwave and vera for security issues and for some reason when the thief comes in, he/she removes a device thinking that it is for security- for example. my vera starts executing a scene and tries to reach this device, try and try while other devices will be delayed…
I don’t know if you got me

That would be all the more reason not to use Vera for security.

I don’t care what MCV says about using Vera for security, I’d rather use a separate (UL rated) system designed JUST for the purpose of safeguarding my home.

I don’t use it for security, just for a little surveillance.

I get you, but I can’t answer your question.

Part of the timing is possibly not under Vera’s control, but determined by Z-Wave / the Z-Wave chip, which eventually will tell Vera ‘transmission failed’. (In general, it’s best to have your powered Z-Wave nodes, powered at all times, as it may affect routing not just to that device, but to other devices as well.)

@therealabdo,
Do you have manual routing ([tt]MiOS routing[/tt]) enabled?

no Mios routing (manual) is not enabled
