Trane TZEMT400BB3NX no setbacks or weekly schedule?

Maybe I should have done more research but I just installed a Trane TZEMT400BB3NX z wave thermostat. I don’t understand how to put schedules into this thermostat. Unless you can’t do that and just control it with scenes. It has “ESM Setpoints” in the Energy Saving Mode but I really don’t get what it’s (Setpoints) actually means and is doing.

Expensive thermostat not to have the ability to set a schedule. Can someone clear this up for me?

From memory, there’s a button combination to get into an installation/expanded menu. You then enable the internal scheduling feature there.

Schedules can only be done on the thermostat.
Some people do not use the thermostat’s schedules … but control the setpoints in logic.
This provides much more sophisticated control/confort/energy savings.

I post way ahead of myself most of the time, I searched further after posting. Yes I found out the schedule is not enabled by default and you can enable it with “installer settings”. And I agree yes you have finer control via Veralite. You have to develop the automation mindset and not the usual set schedules on each stat mindset. At least schedules are there that if I ever sell the house they can always be used without Veralite.

A quickly accessible hold with preset setpoints (that can also be changed while ESM is active), e.g. for use when nobody is home.

Think of this as the Not Home schedule.
Some people set ESM when their alarm sytem get’s armed … and turn it off when disarmed.

Some people turn it off when their phone indicates they are within 5 miles of being home … and conversely turn it on when they are outside the ring.

To add my own take to what the others have said, I have mine set so that anytime during the day there’s no activity in the hours for two hours, I enable ESM. Our business is very close to our house and we don’t set the alarm much, plus children, makes this about the simplest solution I could think of.

The only feature I am looking for, is the “Hold” at a certain temp button when pressed. Is there one of these easily accessible to the user?
