I am currently writing an interface between a touchscreen computer and my Vera using a G language called Labview. We use the program to display hundreds of different types of data, EG temperatures, pressures, bilge switches, etc., and the whole process has been a real challenge. Labview allows TCP/IP connections but the version I am using has no support for HTTP calls.
I have the control interface done and working and I am creating a beautiful touchscreen dimmer panel to start with.

These and more answered all my dumb questions and allowed me to finish what I started out to do!
(thanks for the tip on wireshark…seeing the data really helps)
Very cool indeed. I just finished a simple Chumby widget for Vera control using the HTTP commands. I am actually using the Infocast 3.5", but they have an 8" and Sony has their version, the Dash. It is a great bedside control point giving you an alarm clock, internet radio, ip camera views, news, Netflix (dash) etc, etc, and Vera control too. Maybe you’ll need to add a few Sony Dash’s to your staterooms and be able to display the LabView info bedside?
I don’t have the widget working in Chumby/Infocast yet, but it works everywhere else (browser, preview page, etc). It is just a Flash .swf file, so it must be something simple that I have overlooked.
I’ll let everyone know when it is working. Keep pushing the envelope Tim.
Great idea!
The 22 inch multitouch all in one computer runs $550 bucks…I don’t know why more people don’t use them.
The idea is to display more controls on the screen and have LIVE VIDEO from the web cameras plus it makes a great music server.
I use Splashtop Remote on my IPad which remote controls the desktop giving me even more options.
All you have to do is buy a few ZWave wall controllers and you have paid for the Computer!
I will post some screen shots when I get the front end the way I want it.

Looking forward to your screenies when you are done. Will this work on a 10" android tablet as well?
Here is a screen shot of my first version which is working great. The software is Labview so it won’t be much good to anyone but me…but this could easily be duplicated in another language.

Did you have to modify any of the sliders (size, etc.) to get them to be more touchscreen friendly or are the labview control optimized for TS already?
I am curoius how the Vera UI is with your all-in-one touch computer too.
What an idea!
Seriously if anyone is in San Diego and wants to see what we are doing I would love to give you a tour of our yachts and the Beer is on me! Everyone on the Forum has been helpful in the projects I am working on.
In regards to the touchscreen…in Labview the controls are already touch screen friendly so all I had to do was size them for easy use. It works as good as the SQ Remote! I still have to do more testing on the Sonos because I have no documentation to do what I am doing…just WireShark!
In regards to the UI from Vera…it is not touchscreen compatible…the way that the lighting sliders move, then jump back, then move again…well I won’t say what is obvious to us all.
There is so much you can do with a touchscreen computer when used as a central station for your house or in my case Yachts. I control my music system…Sonos multi zone …have live video from all my cameras, and I use TightVNC to take over the desktops of other PCs which is the best of all. I am writing my own touchscreen interface using Labview which is only good for me but I will eventually translate it into an EXE that I can post for others to use. If you are into power monitoring, logo at the Brultech can be tied into the touchscreen and give you great information with REAL detailed information and charts.
What are you wanting to do with the touchscreen?
